Code of Conduct

Our Mission

PancakesCon is an educational conference intended to be inclusive to a “PG-13” teen audience. Please keep conversations and talks appropriate for young people (e.g. talks about making alcoholic drinks or medieval weapons are fine, but please be mindful of young people in talks and conversations).

Our Policy

PancakesCon talks and chat are moderated, and we have a zero tolerance policy on abuse, hate speech, and harassment.

Violators will be removed from PancakesCon platforms and potentially barred from future events. Please contact a moderator in Slack immediately with any concerns!

PancakesCon conducts a blind CFP review. Speakers are selected with minimum knowledge of age, gender identity, nationality, or physical attributes.

Outreach efforts are made throughout the year at a best effort to increase attendance, volunteering, and CFP submissions by underprivileged and underrepresented groups.

Acknowledgement of Country

I would like to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the lands that have shaped my life. I grew up on the unceded homelands of the Council of the Three Fires—the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Potawatomi Nations—as well as many other Indigenous peoples who have cared for the Chicagoland area.

Today, I humbly live on the lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation in Melbourne, Australia. I pay my deepest respects to Elders past, present, and emerging in both places, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, and Native peoples who continue to care for Country and community.
